REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD: Safe Schools Expectations on Halloween
Each year, students from across York Region celebrate the long-standing tradition of Halloween. York Region District School Board's Safe Schools Policy includes an expulsion criterion regarding the possession of weapons or replica weapons which can become very problematic during Halloween festivities.
It is for this reason that parents are reminded that students celebrating Halloween in costume at school must comply with the Board's policy. Costume accessories including, but not limited to, toy guns, knives, axes, swords, etc. are in non-compliance with Policy #668.0.
Face coverings, depictions of gore, violence or other such expressions are disallowed.
Please note that the policy applies to all students at all levels, including Kindergarten.
We thank all parents for your attention to this matter.
